On September 19th 2009, Kettle Cuisine will present an official pledge for $25,000 to The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) to assist with the construction costs of their new expanded facility.

WHAT: On September 19th 2009, Kettle Cuisine will present an official pledge for $25,000 to The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) to assist with the construction costs of their new expanded facility. The new facility will enable the GBFB to distribute more food, more efficiently to the approximately 600 member hunger-relief agencies in the eastern Massachusetts area . Kettle Cuisine employees will also participate in a service day at the food bank that same day, sorting and packing donated grocery products that will be distributed to the GBFB's network.

WHY: The GBFB is a nonprofit organization working to help end hunger in their area by distributing more than 30 million pounds of food annually - enough to serve more than 87,000 people every week. The GBFB's new, larger facility, which is capable of distributing 48 million pounds of food annually, will allow them to serve more hungry people in need. Kettle Cuisine has been working with the GBFB for over five years and has donated over 14,000 gallons of soup in the past four years.

Founded in 1981, the GBFB is joined by more than 12,000 volunteers each yearand is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and one of the largest food banks in the country. The GBFB is a trusted and efficient resource for local food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless and residential shelters, youth programs, senior centers and day-care centers, providing the food they need to feed the hungry.

WHO/WHERE/WHEN: Jerry Shafir, Founder and CEO of Kettle Cuisine, will present The Greater Boston Food Bank with a check and will be available to discuss the recent donation at the food bank's new facility on September 19th at 11:30 a.m. Photographs of the check handoff will be available after the September 19th event for media who are unable to attend.
