In a country with so much excess it's hard to believe that nearly 49 million people are food insecure. That means that roughly 1 in every 6 people in the United States and roughly 1 in every 5 children don't know where their next meal is going to come from. The impact of food insecurity is broad and deep and leads to numerous physical, mental, social and developmental issues for a significant percentage of our friends, family and neighbors. Food insecurity today is everywhere. It's a social issue that doesn't discriminate - it's not isolated to certain parts of the country, inner cities or any specific demographics.
